American Red Cross, Greater Richmond Chapter Accounting Department Selected by National Headquarters as Center of Expertise

The Accounting Department of the American Red Cross, Greater Richmond Chapter, is one of 45 selected from 720 chapters around the country to serve as a Center of Expertise. This means the department will coordinate the back office accounting for numerous chapters throughout the southeastern portion of the United States. The exact number has yet to be announced.

The selection was driven by criteria including chapter stability, strength of present accounting staff, revenue size, fiscal health and operational efficiency. “We are proud as this is a significant recognition. We look forward to our new accounting systems that will make our practices even more efficient, spreading the use of a donated dollar even further,” shared Reggie Gordon, Greater Richmond Chapter CEO. “The consolidation of the accounting offices of several chapters will save us considerable funds.”

“Our chapter is obviously viewed by our national headquarters as strong and that is largely due to our supportive community,” continued Gordon. “We could never help the thousands of people we do each year without the continued support of our donors and volunteers.”

The announcement was made recently by Jerry DeFrancisco, President, Humanitarian Services and Brian Rhoa, Chief Financial Officer of the national Red Cross.  Twenty-five year employee, Fernando Gutierrez is the Greater Richmond Chapter’s Chief Financial Officer.
